About Health Equipment and Health Products
With the increasing demand for quality of life, various health products have entered our lives. Many elderly people, regardless of whether they are willing to spend thousands or tens of thousands of yuan on any health products or equipment they hear about, are able to come up with any money they are reluctant to spend. However, do these seemingly healthy things really work? On the 17th, staff from the Jilin Provincial Food and Drug Administration walked into a community to give residents a science popularization lesson on what health products and medical equipment are, and what issues to pay attention to when purchasing medical equipment, specifically for elderly people who "spend money to buy health". They also told residents that medical equipment that can cure all diseases is not trustworthy, and they must keep their eyes wide open when choosing medical equipment, and not buy a "superficial product" at a high price.
More than 90% of elderly people prefer health products
On the afternoon of the 17th, residents of Yatai Community in Dongsheng Street heard that someone had come to explain medical equipment to them and arrived at the scene early. Have you all used health products? "Asked a staff member from the Medical Device Department of Jilin Provincial Food and Drug Administration in front of enthusiastic residents. The residents answered in unison, "I have used it." Aunt Wang, 68, said that she was reluctant to spend money when she was young, but now that she is old, her body always has problems. In order to avoid going to the hospital, she thought about Fa'er's health prevention measures, so her home was filled with various health products.
The reporter briefly counted that among the 42 residents on site, more than 90% of the elderly prefer health products.
Don't easily believe the promotion when purchasing medical equipment
How much do residents know about a variety of health products and equipment? The staff found during on-site questioning that residents often listen to salespeople's introductions and read the promotional materials they provide.
It is very necessary to pay attention to the health of the elderly and tell them how to use medical devices correctly, "said Li Yi, Deputy Director of the Medical Device Department of Jilin Provincial Food and Drug Administration. When purchasing medical device products, it is necessary to carefully check the relevant information of the product, such as the production enterprise license number, product registration certificate number, product manual and certificate of conformity printed on the packaging. If there is no production license number and product registration number, it is either a counterfeit product or not a medical device. Residents can log in to the website of the Drug Administration, click on the medical device in the data query column, enter the registration certificate number or product name, and conduct a search. Li Yi reminds that when purchasing products, it is necessary to obtain a shopping invoice. Once it is found that the operating unit does not have relevant licenses or suspects that the product quality is problematic, it should be reported to the drug supervision and management department in a timely manner.
Li Yi stated that common medical devices such as blood pressure monitors, thermometers, blood glucose meters, contact lenses, and insulin injection pens that are not up to standard can have adverse consequences. For example, a blood pressure monitor may exhibit inaccurate measurement results, intermittent black screens, and failure to display blood pressure values; Insulin injection pens mainly exhibit pain at the injection site, leakage of the injection needle, difficulty in pushing, poor sealing of the pen core, and discoloration of the pen core; The main symptoms of a blood glucose meter are inaccurate blood glucose measurement values, unclear blood glucose display, and non display on the screen.
Li Yi pointed out that when purchasing medical equipment, it is important to pay attention to the following points: firstly, it varies from person to person and is tailored to the situation. Should one consider whether they need a medical device based on their current situation, and whether it is more appropriate to choose medication or equipment? Is the product in front of you suitable for your physical condition (or illness)? Is the price performance ratio of the product reasonable? By queuing up the above questions based on one's actual situation, one will have a clearer understanding of whether the product they are looking for is what they need. Secondly, when purchasing medical devices, one should go to a unit with a medical device production license or a medical device business license (whose products should be within the scope approved by the license) to purchase. Thirdly, do not easily believe in advertising and propaganda, and distinguish the recommended medical devices and various "free health lectures". When you are unsure if you need a certain product, you should consult a doctor and never blindly purchase it.
The effectiveness of advertising is often exaggerated, the products are expensive, and the effect is average, "said Li Yi. For the advertising of medical devices, the Food and Drug Administration has clear regulations that all advertisements need to be reviewed and filed by food and drug regulatory departments at or above the provincial level before they can be published. However, there are still a few companies that engage in illegal, exaggerated, and false advertising behavior.
